LOVIN' THIS MONTH

Instead of doing monthly reviews, I've decided to start doing my favourites! I'm really excited, so let's start!
Beauty
I have quite long eyelashes so wanted to stick to 'BADgal Lashes' by Benefit, but as a cheeky present my Mum decided to buy me, what everyone else has.. 'They're Real'. I prefer the brush of the mascara that I used before, but I still love the brush that comes with 'They're Real'. I love how you can create both natural AND fake lashes! Here is the link to both mascaras!

As for my lips, I have gone from dark lipsticks to lighter and brighter/natural lipglosses. The first being Rimmel's Apocalips in 'Apocaliptic'. This is a very bright pink colour that is very pigmented. The second gloss is close between Revlon's Super Lustrous in 'Kiss Me Coral' and Benefit's 'Coralista', both being bright coral colours. Benefit's lipgloss is pigmented on its own whereas the Revlon gloss looks best layered on top of a coral lipstick to create a sheen looking lip. My favourite is therefore 'Coralista', as it feels less heavy on my lip for the Spring ans Summer. My favourite nude has been Sleek's Matte Me lip cream in 'Petal'.  This is easily applied with the lip brush it comes with which I'm very excited about as I don't have to take a lip brush out with me! The matte does not show lip imperfections which I LOVE, and leaves a natural finish. It also lasts for AGES.

Nails
This month I have worn Sally Hansen nail polish in 'Plum's the Word', a deep rose colour which isn't quite as dark as plum. Teamed with base coat and top coat this lasted me two weeks with only minor chipping! I'm really looking forward to trying other colours, especially 'Mudslide' and 'Mauve Along'.. I think it's fairly obvious I'm going quite nude this Spring/Summer!

Fashion
I bought some lovely lovely lovely sunglasses from New Look, which were really cheap. I have contact lenses so it is now easy for me to wear sunglasses! I just love the clear frames as well as the colour of the lens and the shape of the overall glasses. I find it really hard to find glasses that fit and suit me generally, but I have really really fallen in love with these!

I ordered two items from STAG or, Stand Tall Amongst Giants. I bought the 'Hex Logo Tee in Heather' and a 'beanie in Burgundy'. The clothes are super comfy and super easy to wear and wash. I teamed my tee with burgundy jeans from New Look and some blue Vans for a simple look.

SAVE ROCK N ROLL TOUR

The picture taken at the gig, by Jack Edinger: here
I simply couldn't wait until the end of March to tell you about my love for the band New Politics.. I went to my second Fall Out Boy gig on Sunday 16th March, a five year gap from 2009, and New Politics were supporting before The Pretty Reckless.

Although I initially made fun of the band, I found them to be quite catchy, especially so with the song 'Yeah, Yeah, Yeah'. At the start of the song you're pretty sure you're going to be listening to some version of Blur's 'Song 2', which is noticeable throughout the song, but this adds a feel good factor for me! Another song from their first album is 'Dignity', this is also worth a listen.. To me this sounds a lot like the songs from The All-American Rejects' album 'When the World Comes Down'.

They are a really energetic band, definitely shown by David Boyd, the lead singer, as seen in the video. They currently have two albums, their latest having just been released. This includes my feel good song called 'Fall Into These Arms' - unfortunately this is not on their Vevo yet. 'Tonight You're Perfect' is also a lovely lovely song.

The band is a three piece from Denmark, which instantly made me like them - unfortunately I have an unhealthy obsession with Scandinavia.. I say unfortunately but that can be argued!
I feel like they have brought all of my punk-pop/pop-rock love back. It has made me listen to +44, Bowling for Soup, Sum 41, Alien Ant Farm... To name just a few... My fourteen year old is craving to come out once more!*

I wore what I normally wear to festivals/gigs/places I could get messy (including UV Paint parties..) which is a cheap tshirt and Disco Pants. This time they were from Boohoo.com due to their stretchy waistband and comfort. I also have some from Primark and New Look, but have found that Boohoo's are the comfiest. The tee is from Asda... I hacked into it. I'm also thinking of doing a tutorial on how to do this.. I cut the sleeves off to form a low cut and deep arm hole. I then cut down the back, and then cut strips from this and tied them together. I have also seen a skeleton version of this which I am eager to try. Unfortunately Asda do not do the top that I had anymore, but these are some of my faves that I'd love to cut up, all very cheap!: Back to the Future, G 'n' R's Paradise City, Rocking Meercats.

Lots of Love

*I have been feeling really nostalgic recently, I was 14 nearly 6 years ago. A lot has changed, especially with my music choices. I used to only listen to Panic! At the Disco, Fall Out Boy and general punk/pop rock. I now listen to Classic, Hard, 'Screamo', Rock n Roll, Celtic Rock, Heavy Metal, Death Metal.. You name it I'll listen to it!
I have also got over the naivety that once you like one type of music you have to listen to only that type of music.. I also listen to Electronic, Dance, Folk, R n B...

LOVIN' THIS MONTH

I shouldn't make any excuses because of university work, but I'm going to! So yeah.. That's my excuse.. I do still have my Benefit faves to come! It's ready and waiting. However, I may post this after my Benefit appointment tomorrow.

This month was the Vintage Fair, and another one is coming tomorrow - This is Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair who tour the UK. I bought a lovely new Spring coat that is light. I bought a large due to its length and bagginess, and I wanted a coat which I could roll up the sleeves on. It fits nicely at the back as well.
For Valentine's Day, I helped out at the Horse Riding Society's bake sale - I made a yummy red velvet cake.
In the evening, me and my boyfriend went to a flat party instead of the generic film and meal, though we did make and share a curry.
This was the second night my friend visited - I took her to Lola Lo's for a drink due to its theme. Although it wasn't too busy, and we had the dance floor to ourselves, it was still really fun. We then went to Home, which was packed out! I had never ever seen it that busy on a Saturday before.. I can only assume this was due to pay day.
This was the first night out.. We look rather more.. Awake!
We saw the death of flappy bird, but thankfully the rise of Fall Out Bird...
...AND DARK HORSE! I'm a lover of tack, and the video to Katy Perry's new single Dark Horse (album) made me dance and crave more tack in my wardrobe.
I have also been trying out new hairstyles. I got this scrunchie from the vintage fair as well as the coat.

This month, I haven't done all that much. We've had Valentines Day, War Horse live, and my one of my best friends came to visit me for two nights out at Uni. They have been my highlights! Many of these photos can be found on instagram, which is the same as my blog: lauraisnot.
I got my second lobe piercings done, but soon took out my rook. It wasn't painful, they just take a long time to heal which was bothering me.
